At times life seems to deal us a bad hand and we question G-d’s Justice.
G-d is Not Fair
“Hey! That’s not fair!”
Don’t you wish you had a dollar for every time you have heard or said this as a kid, or as an adult every time you heard your kid or their friends say it?
Who’d need to wish to win the lottery jackpot then!?
Many people think that G-d’s not fair and indeed, by human standards He is not. Shocked?
We have a skewed, bias version of what “fair” is. As the Scriptures say, we see through a glass darkly. What is fair anyway? It is such a vague concept and depends on who is judging what is fair and how it’s fair.
First and foremost and above all, G-d is Holy, Set-Apart, Pure. All other attributes hang on this immutable fact. Based on His holiness, He is Just and “Fair”, but in His own infinite supernal way that we disagree with because we are short sighted and finite; we cannot fathom His Justice and “Fairness.” We by far cannot see the Big Picture.
So next time someone pouts and says, “G-d is not fair,” agree with them and say, “Neither are we Infinitely Holy and Just.”
