Is Allah the Same as Yahweh?
Muslims claim to believe in the God of Abraham (Ibrahim). They claim their linage comes from Ibrahim’s son Ishmael. They also claim that Allah is the same as what the Hebrews and Jews call Yahweh. But is this true?
Granted, the God of Abraham (Ibrahim) knows when someone is addressing or that their intent is to address Him, even if they call Him by another name. The Creator knows our hearts and its intent. It is similar to the example if someone who knows me, or who would like to know me, looked at me and called me Steve or Jeff (which they, I apparently have a few people running around that looks like me with those names) instead of my English name “Kris” or my Hebrew name “Yehudah,” I would know they are speaking to me and I would kindly correct them. And seeing as I have a few different names, I could be called my any one of them and acknowledge the person speaking with me. After all it is said the Almighty has 99 Names in Islam and in Judaism there said to be 72 Names of God. So the Master of the Universe knows all His Names and who is addressing Him, even if they get His Name wrong. However, if I was called by the wrong name and I corrected them, I would not expect them to call me by the wrong name again. It is the same with God. So what we need to determine is, is Allah the same as Yahweh? Is Allah the God of Abraham (Ibrahim)?
Prior to Mohammed cleaning out the Kaaba of its pagan idols and making it a place of worship for Allah, Allah was but one of 360 idols that say in the Kaaba in Mecca. This is simply the equivalent of a Greek entering the Parthenon and clearing out every god and goddess but Zeus and proclaims him as the one true god. This is essentially what Mohammed did when he cleaned the Kaaba in Mecca. It is well documented that Allah was originally the Koresh clan deity of Mohammed’s uncle who raised him. Mohammed’s father and uncle even had Allah in their name: AbduLLA (father) and ObiALLAH (uncle). Before Mohammed, Allah was a well-known Arabian moon deity who had three daughters Lat, Uzza and Manat (Sura 53:19-20). Allah is even found in pre-Islamic Arabian inscriptions and poetry as the moon god. Therefore Allah has no connection to the God of Abraham (Ibrahim) or Ishmael.
Before Mohammed, Allah was a well-known Arabian moon deity who had three daughters that are even mentioned in the Koran; Lat, Uzza and Manat (Sura 53:19-20).
Arabic is a related language to Hebrew and Aramaic and nowhere in the language is Allah or anything close to it used for the name of God, Yahweh. Actually, Allah is equivalent to the Babylonian god Baal. Even the symbol for Islam the Crescent moon and Star still declares this origin.
Just because Islam is a monotheistic faith that claims to believe in the God of Abraham (Ibrahim) does not mean they have the right god.
Let us compare the God Yahweh of the Bible and Allah of the Koran and see if they are the same:
Clearly Allah and Yahweh are not the same.
· God is Knowable and Personable
· Holy, Moral and Cannot Lie
· Trustworthy, consistent
· Love is the motive to serve Him
· Allah is unknowable, impersonal
· Not limited by moral nature
· Apt to change his mind
· Fear is the motive to serve him
